Heather Viramontes - POTS treatment

Please help Adam and Heather raise money for Heather to attend a POTS treatment center in Dallas in May 2019.

We are hoping to raise $10,000 for this family to cover the $7,000 treatment center fee + travel expenses + food + rental car (10 days).

Here is Heather's story.....

After experiencing a difficult pregnancy in 2017, including chronic back pain from a rollover car accident in 2014, Heather began experiencing unusual and concerning levels of pain, aches, deep exhaustion, anxiety and nausea in the summer of 2018. Upon completing a difficult week of VBS with Mosaic Church (where her husband is the Pastor), Heather’s concern peaked and she began receiving medical attention for extreme fatigue and noticeable amounts of unintentional weight loss. Several visits with local doctors—including MRI’s and blood tests—eliminated the presence of cancer but could not help her beyond that. With no diagnosis and the symptoms getting increasingly worse, she was able to visit the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale in the fall. After two, week long visits at the Mayo Clinic, doctors were able to collectively provide Heather with an answer and a diagnosis—Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS).

POTS is a debilitating syndrome that is largely unknown and currently has no cure. If you’re interested in learning more, watch this short video HERE . The treatment plan prescribed by the Mayo Clinic for Heather is threefold—medicinal, nutritional and exercise. Since leaving the Mayo Clinic in the fall of 2018, Heather has diligently followed her treatment plan and is learning a lot about POTS and how her body is handling it. In short, she has seen little to no improvement (10-15% increase in quality of life). As a young 37 year old, mother of 3 littles, wife of a Pastor and friend to many, this disease has made life unrecognizable and in many ways hopeless.

Heather was recently introduced to a POTS treatment center in Dallas, TX providing treatment to increase the quality of life for those suffering with POTS! More info about the center HERE . The goal of the 10 day program is to help Heather gain control of her autonomic nervous system to directly address the symptoms she’s experiencing. Our hope is that if Heather receives this treatment, she can learn how to manage her body with this disease and her life can be given back to her!

So many of you have helped this family in their time of need by providing meals, childcare, an encouraging hug and a shoulder to cry on. Well this is another very tangible way for us to come alongside this family in their time of need!

Unfortunately, this treatment center is not covered through the Viramontes’ medical coverage. Not only will the treatment center expenses be financially burdensome but 10 days of travel and housing in Dallas, TX will add to the financial weight.

We are hoping to raise $10,000 for this family to cover the $7,000 treatment center fee + travel expenses + food + rental car (10 days).
