In October, the 2015 <a href="http://www.parliamentofreligions.org/" target="_blank">Parliament of the World's Religions</a>  will be held in Salt Lake City, Utah. Imagine 10,000 people from every religion in the world, sharing information and ideas: a United Nations of religion. At the Parliament in Chicago in 1993, Neo-Pagans and Wiccans won representation for the first time as a part of the global interfaith community. This year we have an opportunity for heathens and others who practice reconstructionist paganisms and polytheisms to claim our place on the global Interfaith stage. Our fundamental purpose is to build bridges of mutual understanding with peoples of faith from around the world. We want to let people know that the old gods are alive, active and being honored today, and to provide authentic information on what we do and believe. To achieve these goals, several heathens have joined together as the “Alliance for Inclusive Heathenry” to run an information booth (#878) at which pamphlets and books can be distributed and sold. At least two heathen related presentations have been accepted for the program: · “Rebuilding the Altars: Reconstructing Indigenous Pagan Faiths for Today” (Diana Paxson, Rob Schreiwer, Erynn Laurie, Elisheva Nesher, Kirk Thomas and Gwendolyn Reese) October 18, 8:15 a.m., · "Staving off Ragnarök: A Heathen Response to Climate Change”, (Diana Paxson) on October 17th at 10 a.m. All of this takes money. Parliament pricing seems to assume that attendees have funding from religious organizations behind them, so we are asking support from our communities now. We would also like to hear from anyone who is already planning to attend the Parliament, or is in the area and would like to volunteer either to help with our booth or assist the Parliament organizers. Your funds will go directly to support the following four attendees of the 2015 Parliament: · Diana L. Paxson, Elder in the <a href="http://www.thetroth.org/" target="_blank">Troth</a>  and Gyðja of <a href="http://www.hrafnar.org/" target="_blank">Hrafnar</a> · Robert Lusch-Schreiwer, Vice-Steersman of the <a href="http://www.thetroth.org/" target="_blank">Troth</a>, Ziewer of <a href="http://site.distelfink.org/" target="_blank">Die Urglaawisch Sippschaft vum Distelfink</a> · Lorrie Wood, Þyl of <a href="http://www.hrafnar.org" target="_blank">Hrafnar</a> · Angela Carlson, Þórsgyðja, Othala Hearth Funds are being collected by <a href="http://www.thespiralpath.org" target="_blank">The Fellowship of the Spiral Path</a>, a pan-pagan umbrella group and 501(c)(3) non-profit based in Berkeley, California. Spiral will receive 5% of the proceeds and administer the funds to <a href="http://www.hrafnar.org" target="_blank">Hrafnar</a> (a heathen kindred based in Berkeley and affiliated with Spiral) and <a href="http://site.distelfink.org" target="_blank">Distelfink Sippschaft</a> (a 501(c)(3) non-profit heathen group based in Bristol, Pennsylvania). Excess funds raised, if any, will be distributed to Hrafnar and Distelfink for their general use.
