Dear friends,
Events over the last couple of months have unified the Azerbaijani community worldwide. Whilst the war affected us all in different ways, it left profound emotional, mental and physical effect on families directly impacted by it.
We observed how our compatriots abroad came together to provide much needed financial support to the affected families. To continue these efforts in a more coordinated way the Azerbaijani community in the UK has launched a fundraising campaign to help families impacted by the war.
We heartily would like to urge you to take part in this fundraising event aligned to celebrate the International Solidarity Day of Azerbaijan.
The suggested amount is £20 each, the price of a couple of coffees may not seem like much on its own, but if each of us come forward with this amount, together we can raise these much-needed funds. However, higher donations are kindly welcomed.
The funds will be raised for Red Hearts and Friends, a group of volunteers who came together in 2019. So far the group raised 300,000+ AZN from Azerbaijanis around the world and helped more than 1200 families in more than 50 districts of Azerbaijan. The group focuses specifically on families living in extreme poverty, with little or no income. Members of the group, consisting of more than 150 volunteers living across Azerbaijan, personally vet each family and access their income and living conditions. After the assessment, a profile is created to find sponsors for the families.
We are also running a parallel fundraising campaign (https://incoaz.com/new-year-gifts/), to bring the joy of holiday season to the children of fallen soldiers during the war.
We (Azerbaijani community living abroad) aim to raise up to £25,000 to support up to three families with improvement of their living conditions and monthly expenses. All funds will be transferred to the Founder of Red Hearts in Azerbaijan, Sevda Hagverdieva for further distribution.
We are planning to report on the spending via this page and/or emailing in due course.
