Helping Hearts for Alan’s Heart!

Our Big brother Alan, age 58 recently found out his heart was blocked in 3 places. We understand that many people who have triple bypass surgery, having no problem with financial burdens. However, in the past year, Alan was preparing to have a major back surgery, but before the surgery could be done, he fell on the steps outside his home and broke his arm. The arm brake demanded a surgery to repair the damage done. After a lengthy delay Alan had his back surgery last fall, he had a long recovery. His job at the time was in a hog confinement and quite physical. He recently found a new job, with less pay, but less physical. His wife, Julie had to change jobs after 20 years with a small local business that closed their doors, she doesn't have many vacation days or personal time to take off to help Alan with his recovery time.

The last week of February 2018, Alan was having chest pains, went to the ER, no heart attack, they scheduled a stress test. His stress test showed concerns, on March 1st he had a heart Cath, showing 3 areas of blockage which could NOT be repaired with stents.  His triple bypass was scheduled for Tuesday March 6, 2018. The triple bypass turned out to be a double bypass, he is doing pretty good for going through open heart surgery, he is at the time of this writing still in the hospital walking some and eating small amounts. Pain levels are medium. Recovery and rehab after open heart surgery is quite lengthy. Returning to a normal lifestyle can take beyond 12 weeks. Many patients have emotional and anxiety issues.

Since he hasn't been on his job very long he has NO vacation accrued or sick leave, the company has given him 8 weeks of medical leave without pay. Our family has had many other challenges in the past year, our father passed away in Feb 2017, our mom found out she had kidney cancer in Dec 2017, undergoing an 8-hour surgery to remove cancer and one kidney.  Alan has been our Mom’s right-hand man especially after our father passed away and our mom’s declining health.

We are asking for what we believe a small amount of financial support to help our brother and his wife make it through a difficult time of monetary strain.  Alan wishes to go back to work at his new job and support his family. The Funds will be used for his deductible, medical insurance premiums while Alan is off work, traveling to rehab and other medical Appointments.

We ask for encouragement, prayers, any support you could give, and we thank you for your generosity.
