My brother Van is a youth pastor in Kauai, Hawaii where him and his wife, Jamie have an awesome ministry working with the youth. His other three kids remain on Kauai right now while they are with Heartly on the island of Ohau. This has been an extremely hard and emotional time for all of us. Thank you for considering your support.
Heartly Athena Nalani Skoubis was born on June 23rd. She was born healthy and full term. We took her in on Thursday (June 29) for her new born check up. Doctors found that her head was measuring small and the there was slight paralysis on the Left side of her face. They recommended that she be flown to Oahu right away for an MRI at Kapiolani Medical center.
MRI was taken on Friday evening... The Results were not good. Apparently Heartly had something affect her brain development while in the womb. The scan revealed that Her brain is small and underdeveloped. She is not in any immediate danger as of now but she will never have normal brain function.
They are in the Process of running multiple tests in order to find out what caused it and if it is still effecting her. Some of the things they are testing for are viruses, infection, parasites, genetics....
We are excited that She has passed her hearing test today! Her eye function and vision is good in her left eye! Her right is ok but has some small Scaring on her cornea.
This has been a very trying time for our family but we know that God is faithful and is in control. Thank you all for the continued prayer, support and encouragement. Please Pray for complete healing but most of all for The Lord to be glorified in this situation.
