Heartbroken for Andrea

Donation protected

The love of my life has cancer! She is not better or worse than anyone else in her position, however... she is very special to me and her loved ones. I will provide you with a little background. Andrea has Asthma. A few years ago it became difficult for her to even climb stairs without being out of breath. After many visits to many doctors, and trying many different inhalers and steroids, it still appeared that nothing seemed to work. A new doctor decided to do a specialized chest x-ray where it was discovered that she has a rare Carcinoid tumor in her lung. She was scheuled for immediate surgery to have it removed. Thankfully, the surgery was successful and recovery went well! She can now function like anyone else who has that particular type of Asthma. Now we get to the present and a different story. A few months ago she was complaining about a pain in her left side. After dealing with it for a few days (she's a tough girl), she went to her doctor and some tests, including a scan, were performed. The results came in and she was informed that she had stage three Colon Cancer. Naturally... this was a diagnosis that neither of us was expecting. It was bad news all over again, and just a little over two years after the Carcinoid tumor was taken care of. She recently had the surgery to remove the tumor and its affected 10" of bowel. She is now going through the necessary Chemotherapy to remove any residual or additional cancer cells found during the stage 3 diagnosis. Our hopes are that this will prevent her from ever getting cancer in this area again, and hopefully still... that she will remain cancer free for the rest of her natural life! Andrea is an RN who works very long, twelve hour overnight shifts for six days in a row. She then has eight days off, then starts her twelve hour, six day shift again. Sounds great right? Ordinarily yes, but since her cancer diagnosis and subsequent surgery... those 8 days that she's "free"... are not! Those days are being used as her "chemo" days and as such, I am also witness to her going through a pain that I couldn't even imagine. I do everything in my power to make her as happy and comfortable as possible and it never seems like it's enough! The drugs they give her for nausea and pain just barely take the edge off. We are trying everything and anything possible to help her to be as comfortable as is humanly possible! So far, the essential oils in some teas are somewhat helpful, and we're always looking for anything else that could help. That's one reason why I'm writing this. As you might imagine, I'm trying to help her anyway I can. She has 11 more grueling treatments left. Any monies donated to her will be used if she needs an extra day off here or there or if there's a new medicine available that isn't covered. Anything that gives her one less thing to worry about and to give her some additional time to recover when it's just to difficult to go to work. I sincerely thank you for taking the time to read about my love. If you can't donate maybe you could just leave a message to help lift her spirits. At this time... just about anything would be greatly appreciated.
