Heart Transplant for Marion Hood Jr

Donation protected
Marion (Mario) Hood Jr is in need of a heart transplant due to Congestive Heart Failure.

Sadly, this disease is no stranger to the Hood family - it took his father at age 49 and his uncle at age 50. But Mario is determined it will not take him. His condition has prevented him from working, but over the past five years Mario has lost 120lbs, exercised as much as he could, had two pacemakers and defibrillators and endured countless other medical tests and procedures to try to beat this disease.

Even so, his heart - which had been functioning at 33% - is now only functioning at 17% and recently Mario has been added to the organ transplant list to receive a heart. He is currently in the hospital undergoing the exhaustive transplant center testing that is the first step in the transplant journey. Did you know that most patients are required to pay $190,000 - $220,000 for a heart transplant AFTER insurance

At this point it looks likely he will need a ventricular assist device and will receive constant IV medication until he can get the transplant he desperately needs.

Even with insurance, the cumulative costs of past treatments, recent expenses and the looming price tag on everything associated with a transplant is overwhelming. Mario and his family are humbly asking for any help you can provide.

1.  Financial donations of any amount would be greatly appreciated.
2.  If you are able to share this story on your social media it would also mean so much.
3.  And more than anything, we would be eternally grateful for your prayers.

An avid athlete all through childhood, a horrible car accident ended his dream of playing collegiate football when he was 18 years old.

After recovering from the accident Mario began a career as a professional mover. His physical stature and strength alone would be enough to excel in this work but he was most praised for his organization skills and attention to detail.

He helped a cousin move to Washington State in 1990 and decided to stay. He has three children who are the light of his life and two grandchildren who always make his enormous warm smile even bigger and his eyes twinkle.

He finally married the love of his life 7 years ago and has everything to live for.  Mario wants to thank everyone for their support and of course - Roll Tide!
