Heart Surgery Tumaini and Sharon

Donation protected
On Monica and my recent medical mission to Tanzania, we diagnosed two young people with severe cardiac abnormalities.  My group International Medical Relief is not able to help for several months, and their conditions have worsened.   Trusted physician friends inTanzania have arranged for these kids to undergo life saving surgical procedures.   The cost total would be 22,000,000 Tanzania shillings or roughly 9500 US Dollars.   You know I rarely ask for help, and Monica and I are doing what we can, but I would be personally incredibly grateful for any help, any of you can provide.

Tumain Elibarki has critical aortic valve stenosis . Aortic stenosis is one of the most common and most serious valve disease problems. Aortic stenosis is a narrowing of the aortic valve opening and restricts the blood flow from the left ventricle to the aorta and may also affect the pressure in the left atrium.

In addition to the symptoms of aortic stenosis, which may cause a patient to feel faint, weak, or lethargic, the wall of the left ventricle may also show muscular thickening because the ventricle must work harder to pump blood through the narrow valve opening into the aorta. The thickened wall takes up more space inside the lower heart chamber which allows less room for an adequate amount of blood to be supplied to the body, which in turn may cause heart failure and eventually death. Early treatment can help to reverse or slow down the progress of this disease.

There is a surgery that will correct this disease but unfortunately this young guy living in Africa has no way to come up with the funds for such a surgery. This is where you come in... any monetary donation (tax deductable) will go towards this surgical procedure.

Tumain is a college student in Arusha, Tanzania, studying to be a tour guide.  He resides in Oldadai village.  He needs and is scheduled for a transcather aortic valve replacement.

Sharon Dickson is one of the sweetest children I met in Tanzania.  She is 9 years old.  She suffers from a congenital birth defect which is rapidly causing her increasing problems.   She suffers from pulmonary valve stenosis with a patent ductus arteriosus.  She is failing to gain weight, losing normal childhood energy and has had episodes during which she coughs up blood and cannot breath well.

A trusted friend Dr Thomson Victorious has her scheduled for a balloon valvuloplasty at the Muhimbili National hospital in Dar Es Salaam.  Because she is rapidly worsening,  we have expedited her evaluation.  She will likely worsen quickly if this procedure cannot be performed in the near future.
Sharon is full of zest for living, has a brilliant smile and melts the heart of anyone who sees her.

She is a good student and enjoys netball, studying and worshipping at her village christian church.  Her family can not afford the money to perform this surgery which will alter her life dramatically for the better.

I know we are fortunate in our country.  Many of you have asked how they could help on our overseas volunteer work.  This is the perfect time to help.  Anything will help these kids.  I thank you for considering this.
