For those of you who have a pet, they are more than just a pet they are family, and to some they might consider them a child. Nevertheless pets bring so much joy to our lives.
Sometimes we get bad news that we dont want to hear, unfortunately Booker has been diagnosed with Patent ductus arteriosus. Which has already enlarged Bookers heart and he is in need of surgery. We hope that you will keep reading and help us get Booker the surgery he needs so he can have a chance to make more lifetime memories with his family.
What is patent ductus arteriosus:
It is a heart defect caused by problems in the hearts development. Essentially PDA (patent ductus arteriosus) is when a large blood vessel called the ductus arteriosus fails to close at birth, the vessel is supposed to close within hours of birth, which at that point it will direct blood flow into the newly I flated lungs.
Depending on the size of the heart defect will determine how much stress is put on the left side if the heart and will cause the heart to enlarge, if it is left untreated it can eventually lead to congestive heart failure.
Goal:
As you know heart surgery is pretty expensive in general, that also applies for our fur babies as well. We are trying to help the Picardi raise enough money to proceed with the surgery, from the estimates the vet gave them it could be from $5,000-$10,000.
The surgery has a 90% success rate, please help spread this and help us raise enough for this angel to get a chance at life.
