Heart operation Baby Nenolina (1 year old)

Baby Nenolina Fomonyuy, is 10 months old and requires to undergo an open heart operation. This diagnosis has been done by the St. Elizabeth Catholic General Hospital Shisong – Cardiac Center. In the Kumbo, a town situated in the North West region of Cameroon.  

Ghislaine Maire, the mother of Baby Nenolina is a single mom, 21 years old. Due to the civil unrest and the degrading socio economic situation in the North West region of Cameroon with the aggravating Anglophone crisis, she is currently without a job and feeding and health have become a daily battle for the young family.

It all started when Nenolina was born, she refused taking breast milk and her mother usually squeezed the breast milk before she could drink. Ghislaine Marie noticed the baby had a swollen chest and was not feeding well.  Despite the normal feeding Nenolina kept losing weight and was not active like every child at her age. Ghislaine Marie consulted severally with a nutritionist who followed up the child for a while and discovered that the situation was not getting better. The nutritionist then referred the baby for medical examinations in a hospital.  Ghislaine Marie took her to the hospital for a full check-up.  After a series of test, the doctors recommended that a heart x-ray be done. At this time she was weighing just 5kgs at 10 months.  After the test at the Banso Baptist Hospital, it was detected that the child has a heart malfunction and she was referred the St Elizabeth hospital Cardiac center. (One of the best in Cameroon when it comes to heart related issues).

After a series of test at the St Elizabeth Cardiac Center Shisong it was confirmed on 16th of March 2019 that Nenolina has a hole in the heart and an open heart operation needs to be performed. An approximate bill of 4millions FCFA (€6200) was given for the baby’s operation. Ghislain Mairie is unable to pay for her daughter’s heart operation and we found it necessary to use this platform to raise €7000 for baby Nenolina heart operation.

Together we can put a smile on Ghislaine Marie and Baby Nenolina’s faces and still show the world cares.
