For the love between a girl and her dog.
A little over a month ago while home with my two children two guys attempted to break into my home by kicking my door in, fortunately they did not succeed. It did however shake me up enough that I decided to give into my daughters wishes and adopt a dog from the Bakersfield SPCA. We went down a few days later and my daughter fell in love with a 6 yr old German Shepherd that we adopted and she named Reign.
We brought her home, had her groomed and realized we could not have adopted a more beautiful loving smart and gentle dog.
Everyday she is with us she reveals a little more of her personality. She loves to wrestle , cuddle ,play, and show off her latest trick that my daughter has worked with her on.
She’s always excited about the daily walk to pick up her human from school, getting pats on the head from the passing school kids. She loves people and loves to please and we couldn’t love her more. March 14th we took her for her vet check-up where the vet noticed she had a heart murmur, and suggested we have her seen by a cardiologist.
March 17th, after several test, we found out that the murmur is caused by a heart defect called PDA that she has had since birth, and if not corrected will lead to congestive heart failure or sudden death. It completely breaks our hearts to think of this wonderful new member of our family who after having been given up to a shelter will have to face that sort of end. We just want the last years of her life to be the best we can give her because she deserves nothing less.
This is the cardiology report from coast to coast cardiology that will explain her diagnosis and also give you an idea of what our Reign will need, to be given the best chance at the rest of her years being happy and healthy. Fortunately, she is still a good candidate for this procedure.
