Heart Attack: Angioplasty and Stents

I’m a 75 year old American who came to Portugal with the highest of expectations to retire on an annuity from 26 years of running an Information Technology Consulting company. I acquired Health Insurance at a cost of 555€ per month and when my business collapsed in the second year of my residency, I could not sustain premium payments. I do not drink or smoke and have not done so for over 35 years. I had limited success finding digital work pre-Covid and now even though I try daily, I’m still not finding suitable employment.

48 hours ago I was struck down by a myocardial infarction - heart attack. I have limited resources and live on Social Security.

Now I’m going to have to recover before the Next stent is placed which should be done within 4 months!

My friends and family have done so much to help me over the last year but their reserves are stressed to say the least!

I’ve always been a giver of my time and resources to those in need. Employed many people down on their luck, Been overly generous, and rarely asked for anything in return.

If you happen to have the financial flexibility to take a chunk or a dent out of this shocking hospitalization, I will be eternally grateful! I always used to say, “ there but for the grace of God go I”! Now I go there!
