Due to the negligence of the doctors, my wife and I as well as our twins, we have suffered a lot. We struggled for five years to get pregnant, they gave us a wrong treatment. Lots of procedures, pain, tears, disappointments, sadness. We didn't have the money for better doctors. In the abyss of depression, we borrowed a loan, which we still pay today, in order to have children. We succeeded! The moment of indescribable happiness was when we learned that we were expecting twins, a girl and a boy. Thinking of children's names, furnishing the baby room and imagining how we will take care of them was interrupted overnight. The wife was six months pregnant, when she got sick one evening. She was admitted to the hospital and left in a room with pain, without therapy, supervision, alone. The doctor did not visit her all night, although she called and begged for help. In the morning, they realized that the birth had started the night before. She could have given birth and bled in that bed. They transferred her to a larger hospitalwhere she had to give birth. They told me, "This is not a birth, it’s a miscarriage. Sixth month of pregnancy, a lot of time was lost the night before, don't expect that the babies will survive. Let's at least save your wife. " And so, three and a half months ahead of time, Lena and Kosta were born. Lena 700 grams, Costa 890 grams. They were not born alive. After delivery, they were resuscitated, connected to life support machines and placed in an incubator. The fight for their lives lasted for a year and a half. Both children developed hydrocephalus and pumps were implanted in their brains because they would not be able to live without it. They survived infections, sepsis, bleeding in the lungs, and an operation was performed on their eyes so that they would not be blind. Kosta was operated on eight times, five times on the brain, once on the heart and twice on the intestines. Lena has had two neurosurgical operations on her brain so far, although she has been operated on less often and her leg has suffered significant damage. Lena does not sit alone, does not crawl, does not stand, does not walk even though she is almost two years old. They both have vision problems; Lena’s problems are bigger and shewill have to have more operations because of that. They still don't speak. When they were born there was no celebration and no congratulations. No glasses were raised, no toasts were made, and Daddy's T-shirts didn't tear as custom says. We wanted to celebrate their first birthday because they were alive and stable. But it did not work. Kosta had a problem with a pump in his brain that day, he was life-threatening. He had to be operated on urgently, he barely survived. The celebratory atmosphere was replaced by fear and uncertainty for his life. Both Lena and Kosta are visibly behind their peers and they need continuous physical and occupational therapy, hydrotherapy, tactile and sensory stimulation, and spa treatment. Then treatments with a speech therapist, special educator, psychologist and psychiatrist. They need various medications, supplements, medical consumables, medical aids, diagnostic procedures in the field of radiology, ophthalmology and neurology. They are also about to undergo surgical interventions by ophthalmologists, neurosurgeons and orthopedists. Treatment and care are provided outside the place of residence, so additional funds are needed for that as well. I ask all humane people to help us with payments so that Lena and Kosta can fight. 


Zbog nemarnosti lekara, supruga i ja kao i naši blizanci, mnogo smo propatili. Mučili smo se pet godina da supruga zatrudni, pogrešno su nas lečili. Mnogo procedura, bola, suza, razočarenja, tuge. Nismo imali novca za bolje lekare. U ambisu depresije, zadužili smo se kreditom, koji i dan danas otplaćujemo, da bi dobili potomstvo. Uspeli smo. Trenutak neopisive srece je bio kada smo saznali da čekamo blizance, devojčicu i dečaka. Smišljanje dečijih imena, opremanje sobe za bebe i maštanje kako ćemo ih čuvati prekinuto je preko noći. Supruga je bila u šestom mesecu trudnoće kada joj je jedne večeri pozlilo. Primljena je u bolnicu i ostavljena u sobi sa bolovima, bez terapije, nadzora, sama. Lekar je nije obišao cele noći iako je zvala i molila za pomoć. Ujutru su shvatili da je još prethodne noći počeo porođaj. Mogla je da se porodi i iskrvari u tom krevetu. Prebacili su je u veću bolnicu. U drugoj bolnici su morali da je porode. Rekli su mi „Ovo nije porođaj, već pobačaj. Šesti mesec trudnoće, izgubljeno je mnogo vremena prethodne noći, ne nadajte se da će bebe preživeti. Da Vam bar spasimo suprugu“. I tako su, tri i po meseca pre vremena, na svet došli Lena i Kosta. Lena 700 grama, Kosta 890 grama. Nisu rođeni živi. Po porodu su reanimirani, priključeni na mašine za održavanje života i stavljeni u inkubator. Godinu i po dana je trajala borba za njihov život. Oba deteta su razvila hidrocefalus i ugrađene su im pumpice u mozak jer bez toga ne bi mogla da žive. Preživeli su infekcije, sepse,krvarenje na plućima, rađena im je intervencija na očima da ne bi bili slepi. Kosta je operisan osam puta, pet puta na mozgu, jednom na srcu i dva puta na crevima. Lena je do sada imala dve neurohiruške operacije na mozgu, iako je manje puta operisana njen nozak je pretrpeo značajna oštećenja. Lena ne sedi sama, ne puzi, ne stoji, ne hoda iako ima skoro dve godine. Oboje imaju problem sa vidom, Lena veći i moraće na još operacija zbog toga. Još uvek ne govore. Kada su se rodili nije bilo slavlja i čestitanja. Nisu se čaše dizale u vis, nije se nazdravljalo i tati se nisu cepale majice kao što je običaj. Želeli smo da proslavimo njihov prvi rođendan, jer su bili živi i stabilni. Ali nije se dalo. Kosta je tog dana imao problem sa pumpicom u mozgu, bio je životno ugrožen. Morao je hitno da bude operisan, jedva je preživeo. Slavljeničku atmosferu zamenili su strah i neizvesnost za njegov život. I Lena i Kosta vidno zaostaju za svojim vršnjacima i neophodana im je kontinuirana fizikalna i radna terapija, hidroterapija,taktilna i senzorna stimulacija, banjsko lečenje. Zatim tretmani sa logopedom, defektologom,psihologom i psihijatrom. Stalni nadzor fizijatra, oftamologa neurohirurga, neurologa, kardiologa, endokrinologa i gastroenterologa, a po potrebi i nadzor hirurga, Potrebni su im razni lekovi, suplementi, medicinski potrošni materijal, medicinska pomagala, dijagnostičke procedure u oblasti radiologije, oftamologije i neurologije. Predstoje im i hiruške intervencije oftamologa, neurohirurga i ortopeda. Lečenje i nega se sprovode van mesta stanovanja pa su i za to potrebna dodatna sredstva.
