Healthcare for my nephews.

Donation protected

My nephews (Leo 3(pictured), Devin 13, Mason 16) are currently unable to get healthcare due to the legal status of their mother. And the healthcare costs are bankrupting my brother, and myself.

One of these guys is special needs (galactosemic) and it is costing almost $1000 per trip/per child whenever someone needs to see a doctor.

Short version: My brother was in the USA for two years when he was young and fell in love with a great woman. They came back to Canada and got married, she got a Canadian SIN # and everything seemed fine for almost 15 years. She worked, paid taxes, and got CCTB in her name.

They then moved to Quebec and the Quebec provincial healthcare informed them that her SIN# was meant to be temporary, and that the whole family does not qualify for healthcare due to her non-existant status.

This has resulted in loss of Federal and Provincial CCTB cheques, and hospital bills in the vicinity of 5000 dollars this year alone.

I have put a bunch of my own money into the initial consultations with an immigration lawyer and we have a plan in place to fix everything up. But none of us can afford the fees as a whole.

I will cover their travel, paperwork filing costs, and medicine while I can. I am here to humbly ask for help with the lawyer fees. Anything you can spare willl help us get these kids back on track. I am especially worried about Leo since he could very literally die from a single mistake on a food label so his trips to the hospital are somewhat frequent.

My brother is a good man who works hard for his family, but this was unexpected and is impossible for us to cover. We have reached out to family and gotten some assistance, but these lawyer fees are just out of our league.

Who will benefit: My 3 nephews, my brother, his wife, and our great country as a whole when these super polite and intelligent kids can take part in everything they should be, instead of their parents worrying about whether to pay for a trip to the doctor or buy food.

How we will spend the funds:

Certificate of Canadian Citizenship for each of the kids: $1375
Filing for permanent SIN# for their mother and enabling child tax credit to start again - $4300

I will cover all other costs, as well as helping to pay rent and keep groceries on the table while they are working through the legal system, but I would be so veryappreciative of any help we can get. It is hurting both of our families deeply right now and I don't think that healthcare should be something children should ever have to worry about in Canada of all places.

Thank you for your time, and thank you in advance for any help you can provide. This is the worst piece of government failing its people that I have ever been personally privy to, and it makes me sick to my stomach.

Let's show Little Leo what being a Canadian is really about; Health, happiness, kindness, and sharing are the basis of our national culture. My brother should not be going to sleep with bleeding ulcers because he works hard fulltime and still can't cover his children's healthcare and feed them at the same time.

Thank you a million times from the bottom of my heart. Your kindness can go a long way to making these kids lives what they should be.
