As many of you know, my husband was diagnosed with stage 4 non small cell adenocarcinoma with metasteses and given an up to 2 year life span. We just passed that. He had surgery at Sloane, chemo and radiation. Many of you also know my law firm would not permit me to work remotely and terminated me. I've been working as an independent contractor which has covered the COBRA and over 20 prescription copays and everyday living. New cancer has appeared in esophagus and lung and Dave starts 17 days of radiation tomorrow. My COBRA ends on 10-31. It is $1555.00 per month for a policy for Dave alone so he can continue treatment and prescriptions and whatever else is going to come our way. My insurance covered the 20% at Sloane that Medicare did not. However we still always have balance bills. I am now in a position to purchase a policy only for him - due to price - and I will have no insurance at my age and a break in coverage...which is dangerous. But...he has been with Sloane for 24 months and he needs to stay with them. I am unable to leave him not only due to his health, but COVID19. We are also told radiation of the esophagus comes with pain and and hospitlaization is anticipated. So here we are, not knowing what to do. Any help you can give for insurance and copays would be tremendously appreciated.
