Funeral Expenses for Maria Herrera

On August 11, 2018 , we lost a beloved member of our Hancock community.  We are deeply saddened to announce that Maria Herrera has passed away after six months of battling kidney cancer.  She leaves behind a family and community who are all mourning her loss. She touched so many lives in different ways whether it was volunteering at parent events at Hancock high schools, being present for workshops, or supporting students through their college application process, Maria became a gem of the Southwest side area. For years, Maria Herrera a mother, wife, friend, and colleague helped her community in many ways and now her family is in need of our help. 

The funds being raised (with Maria Herrera's prior blessing) will be used to cover  Maria Herrera's funeral/services  All money donated will be directly sent to Maria's family to pay for funeral services. We would like to give her family the peace of mind during this very difficult time and ease any financial burden.

In addition to funeral expenses, Maria has an older daughter currently enrolled at Concordia University who will be beginning her second year there. As she continues through her college education, Adriana will have to do so without the emotional and financial support of her mother, which she heavily relied on.
