Since March 16th 2020 the Governor of Washington State has blatantly labeled some businesses essential while 'mandating' that other services are not 'essential'. Effectively closing thousands of small businesses without cause or justification.
In our continued efforts to promote health and wellness to our community we have chosen to support our communities choice to pursue a healthy lifestyle. During this time, there is no greater weapon against COVID-19 than an individuals healthy lifestyle. As a Health business we find it necessary that our members have the ability to access our facility and continue to improve their physical and mental health.
Since there has been no attention paid to Health Centers such as Anytime Fitness in Selah in regards to safe opening, we have created our own. A program based on common sense, examples from other states and countries, and most importantly with our staff and customers health first in mind. This is a program that we believe would be in the best interest of all companies to follow to be allow to render services and protect their customers alike.
Constant spraying of COVID-19 killing chemicals, social distancing, multiple equipment and personal sanitization options are just part of what we are doing, more that what we have witnessed in any business deemed 'essential'.
WA St LnI has issued a fine of nearly $10,000 for putting employees in harmful work conditions, which could not be further from the truth. We love and care for each other, and we are here to take care of our members. Of course, we expect the costs associated with such a fight to surpass this amount very quickly, so anything more is so greatly appreciated!
Any donations will be used towards legal fees as we appeal this unlawful fine (mandate is not a law) as well as any other costs that may be associated. Again our goal is not to simply remain in business for money, but for the community we serve. Without providing a safe and healthy atmosphere for our customers, we would not be here to begin with.
With your support, hopefully we can help businesses all over the state safely reopen and save so much hurt and economic hardship that our Governor does not account for.
My staff, customers and family thank you for the support from the bottom of our hearts. And any funds above the amount used for legal fees will be donated back to help the next businesses in line.
