Heal Kim Dart from Cancer Fund

Just before her birthday in November, my mother Kim had a suspicious lymph node removed and biopsied with the hopes the inflammation was due to some recent dental work. Unfortunately, the biopsy came back cancerous. Since diagnosed my Mom and our entire family have been on a roller coaster ride. The lymph node was removed, and thankfully the majority of the cancer was removed along with it leaving only trace amounts in the margins surrounding the lymph node. These trace amounts required a treatment course  of chemotherapy and radiation. After many frustrations and delays, she started treatment with her usual spunk and vigor. But the chemotherapy didn't agree with her and we ended up in the hospital after the second round with a decision to discontinue the chemotherapy as it threatened to be fatal if continued. So she kept momentum with her daily radiation treatments like a champion, though the radiation was stealing her ability to eat or drink with all the blisters filling her poor mouth. Then, pneumonia. Hospital for an entire week. No food intake. Major setback. Though she was horribly weak and still so under the weather, she finished treatment like a true champion.

And now she is healing. With that being said, the recovery from the treatments she received has been a lot longer and a lot harder than we had anticipated. Turns out, radiation to the head and neck area are amongst the most brutal of treatments and excruciatingly hard to heal. She's a trooper, through and through. We're out of the woods but not in the clear.

It goes without saying that Mom hasn't been able to work for some time now. Longer than she had hoped to be away from work. Sadly, in that time the bills and deductibles and living expenses and travel costs add up more quickly that we can keep up with.

I'm asking you to help my mother. She is a good person who has done nothing but help others her whole life. If anyone deserves a hand up to help her heal, it is Kim Dart. Please help me and my family take care of her so she can continue this path to recovery without the worry of not being able to work. Any little bit helps, and is more appreciated than words can express.
