Healing for Claus's Head Injury

Donation protected
On Friday, February 21, 2014, 19-year-old Petoskey, MI resident, Claus Nowell was hit by the mirror of an ambulance while he was walking. He suffered sever skull fracturing, bleeding, swelling and bruising of the brain. After a right-side craniectomy and the removal of a large section of the right side of his brain, in conjunction with severe damage and stroke throughout the rest of his brain, this is a long road to recovery ahead of us. Both of Claus's parents had to move across state lines to be with him in this trying time, as one was living in Washington and the other in Illinois prior to this tragedy. The estimated time of recovery for this type of accident can range from 1-2 years for the bulk of the healing, but will extend beyond that. The outcome is unknown; we don't know how much of our Clausie we'll get back, but we have faith that he will be back to his smiling, joyfull self. Claus's mission in life is to spread joy and bring unity. After spending his life putting a smile on the face of everyone he encountered, it's time for everyone to band together to help Claus get his smile back. Funds raised for this cause will go towards helping our parents relocate to support Claus through his acute and long-term rehabilitation, as well as to make sure Claus can live a quality life even while he's in said facilities.
