Julie Lovett's Cancer Treatment

In late August 2015 we found out that our mom had Stage 3 Uterine Cancer. It was absolutely terrible and unexpected news, but the doctors worked quickly to plan out treatments and she got started fighting it.
Thru October and November, Jules went thru 5 weeks of daily external radiation and weekly low-dose chemo. The treatments were very painful, but were showing great results! By the end, one of her tumors was down 95% in size and another by almost 50%. In December, over the course of 2.5 weeks, she came up to Stanford for five rounds of Brachtherapy - where they basically did a surgery each time that would feed radiation directly into the tumors.
We had a two month break after the last Brachytherapy before anymore scans - the radiation will keep working after the treatments, so they wanted a couple of months to pass before they could get an accurate picture of how well she had responded to it.
After two months, we went back to Stanford and, in addition to the scheduled scan, Mom had a second scan done because she had been having some terrible back pain. That scan showed that in addition to a number of fractures in her spin (they assume they were caused from the radiation) she also had some elevated activity in her adrenal glands that was concerning.
A couple more scans and a few weeks later and we got the most terrible news thus far - the cancer had gotten into her blood stream and spread to her liver, her adrenal glands, and the lymph nodes in her neck. The doctor mentioned how incredibly rare it was for uterine cancer to do this - "maybe 1 in 100,000 cases would see something like this". Just unbelievable.
Mom had been looking into a doctor in Mexico at the start of her original treatment - one that had been recommended by her nutritionist and a work associate. Dr Donato does a treatment called IPTLD - Insulin Potentiation Therapy Low Dose - which he has seen great success with even in very extreme cases.
On April 10th Mom and I (Lindsay) are leaving to Mexico/Imperial Beach for 4.5 weeks of treatment with Dr Donato - this will be the first round and then they will assess if she needs additional rounds of treatment after that.
The outpouring of love, prayers and support that we’ve received – from friends, family, coworkers – has been truly overwhelming, and so very much appreciated. So many of you have asked what more can be done during this difficult time; my mom feels that a GoFundMe account is like begging for money and wasn't very excited about it, however, I hope that thru this page and additional fundraising that we can help ease the tremendous stress caused by mounting costs. Because the treatments are taking place in Mexico, it is unlikely that her insurance will reimburse for anything, and any ease of stress at this time is a good one.
