Hello friends, supporters, and changemakers,
My name is Musolo David alias Buka Chimey — I’m a Ugandan musician, poet, creative thinker and the founder of the Mindful Creativity Initiative — a movement dedicated to mental wellness in Uganda’s creative arts industry.
After years of silently battling burnout, anxiety, and depression — like many other artists I know — I realized that creatives are often celebrated for their expression but neglected in their struggle. This campaign is about changing that.
We are raising $6,000 to bring our second “Healing Through Art” mental health event to life — a safe, vibrant space where creatives gather to learn, express, connect, and heal.
What We’re Creating:
A 1-day mental health and wellness event in Kampala, Uganda, featuring:
• Workshops on managing burnout, anxiety, and emotional fatigue
• Panel discussions with artists, psychologists, and industry leaders
• Live performances — music, poetry, and dance as forms of healing
• One-on-one mental health consultations with professionals
• Networking spaces to build supportive creative communities
Our first edition in November 2024 was a powerful success — bringing together 98 creatives, mental health advocates, and policymakers. This year, we want to go bigger, deeper, and impact even more lives.
Budget Breakdown:
• $2,000 – Venue, sound & lighting, logistics
• $1,200 – Artist and facilitator honorariums
• $1,000 – Branding, publicity & documentation
• $900 – Mental health professionals & support materials
• $600 – Meals, transport & volunteer support
• $300 – Administrative & contingency costs
Why It Matters:
In Uganda, mental health is still surrounded by stigma — especially in the arts, where many suffer silently. We believe art is not just for entertainment — it’s a tool for healing, advocacy, and change.
Your support will help us create a platform where creatives no longer feel alone. Where their pain is seen. Where their healing begins.
Every donation — no matter the size — is a brick in this foundation of hope.
If you can’t donate, please share this campaign with your friends, family, and networks. You might just reach the one person who needs this the most.
Thank you for believing in healing, in creativity, and in the power of community.
With gratitude and love,
Musolo David
