Julie Mohler loves helping people. Julie works as a pediatric occupational therapist, and has dedicated her life to helping children with special needs. She works tirelessly to ensure that people with disabilities have a voice. When she isn’t at work, Julie loves to take her therapy dogs to the hospital to visit children who aren’t feeling well and volunteer her time to help in the special-needs ministry at her church. Julie loves big, and IS well-loved by her family and friends.
While she finds time for so many people, Julie has also been fighting for her life. 6 years ago, Julie was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition causing extreme pain and organ damage. Julie and her husband Kevin searched for and finally found a doctor who has successfully treated patients with Julie’s condition. Julie began treatment out of the country. In just 36 days, her blood work showed a 38% improvement and her kidney function boosted by 10%. It was such a relief to her family and friends to see Julie respond to treatment, but there is much healing left to be done.
Julie must continue to go out of the country for 1 week every month to receive intensive treatment, and must also receive daily treatment at home while not in the hospital. Unfortunately, insurance does not cover her treatment or medications. As of now, Julie’s medical treatment has cost over $69,400, not including airfare, hotels, work days lost, and other expenses. The expense is something that Kevin and Julie can no longer manage by themselves, even though they both have continued to work throughout the treatments thus far.
