Healing Fund for Megan Kerns

Greetings to family and friends! I believe that Megan described her situation best with a recent Facebook post:

"Hey ya'll. The last few weeks have been rough, and I've spent most of my time in the hospital or being cared for at home. 2 weeks ago I had a small stroke (just a lil droopy smile, no larger deficits thank god, and it's already improved). The [doctors] spent several days running tests, and eventually found a big (8 cm??) mass on my left ovary that caused stroke. I had surgery to remove the mass/ovary, and it has been a pretty intense recovery (pain, nausea, giant shark-bite-looking incision all down my abdomen). "

She went on to explain that the stroke wasn't good, but it did lead to the discovery of her ovarian cancer. Because of this early discovery, doctors were able to remove the mass and will begin her chemo treatment in a few weeks.

There is a long road ahead, from stroke and surgery recovery to the unknowns of chemo. She posted that her "body has gotten *real* dramatic," and she feels as if her "world is upside down."

When Megan shared her medical update, there were so many people interested in helping. Unfortunately, the miles to Oregon make it difficult for many to offer help.
