Just a few short months ago, Karen Gudeman was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal cancer. Karen has always lived a healthy lifestyle so receiving this news has been incredibly challenging.
After many tests, it was discovered that conventional medicine will be unable to cure Karen. Doctors hoped that they would be able to remove the tumor to promote healing but they soon realized that the tumor is inoperable. Further testing showed that the cancer had already spread to her lungs as well.
According to the doctors, medicine such as chemotherapy and radiation may buy her more time but would not provide her a cure. These treatments would also largely decrease her quality of life. Karen’s goal is complete healing, so she is using holistic medicine to promote healing within, while maintaining the best quality of life possible.
After researching different treatment options, Karen was recently informed that she has a spot secured in CHIPSA Hospital which is an Advanced Immunotherapy and Enhanced Gerson hospital in Mexico. This hospital will continue the holistic methods she has been utilizing, but will also introduce some advanced cancer treatments the U.S. does not offer. Karen will begin treatment on April 29th, 2019. It is a three-week inpatient treatment in Mexico with continued outpatient treatments from home upon her discharge. Karen’s daughter will be staying at CHIPSA hospital with her. While Karen and her children are extremely hopeful for this treatment plan, it is expensive. The cost of the hospital stay/treatment is $33,000 plus travel expenses and continued outpatient treatment. Insurance does not pay for any of this treatment. Please help us raise money to encourage Karen that she is not alone in this battle, and to help fund her treatment program! While there is a sort of urgency to this need, we are so thankful for any of your willingness to build up our community in this way. Karen has reported being so humbled by individuals willing to give and support her during this difficult time. Karen has a positive attitude and believes she can beat this. Karen is hopeful that she will eventually be able to inspire others that they can fight holistically to overcome cancer too! Thank you all for your positivity and encouragement; it means a lot to her!
