Healing Amy’s Heart

My little sister, Amy, is a healthy, vibrant 27 year old. She works hard to have what she has and is fun, outgoing, and caring. She cares so much about her family and those she loves. And if she could have a million fur babies she probably would. She is the last person I would expect to have a serious heart attack. But that’s exactly what happened on August 15th, 2019. It all started with acute onset of severe left sided back and chest pain that made its way down her left arm and up the left side of her neck. She called me sobbing not knowing what to do or what it was. I told her to go to the ER immediately. She was admitted to Aurora Lakeland for a slight troponin increase of 0.08. Normal is below 0.04. Four hours later her troponin had risen to 36.6. She was emergently transferred to Aurora St Luke’s Medical Center and underwent a cardiac cath angioplasty and a stent was placed in her LAD. So many things that night were done right that allow my sister to still be with us and our family is forever in debt to those that took her seriously. She is doing fantastic and is home. However, now that the haze of the initial events have cleared, we know the medical bills from this incident are going to be devastating. Unfortunately, Amy is uninsured. I can’t imagine how much this is going to cost but I do know that anything can help. Anything donated will go to helping Amy pay off the medical bills from this freak incident.
