Hi everyone, this is Vickie Walker. If you have been touched by my BFF, Amanda Edwards, you know her story! She was never afraid to share it, in hopes that it would help others overcome the fear of being different. Amanda has suffered from Ulcerative Colitis for 30+ years. In the 10 years I have been blessed to share her life, she has been the strongest, most loved person I know.
While she suffered from the inside, you would rarely know it from the outside. She has the most infectious smile and kind heart that I have ever witnessed and since you probably know her.....you know this to be true!
Amanda's story began years ago..............but this story, for Go Fund Me purposes began a year ago. After suffering for so many years, Amanda had a colostomy to help rid her of the suffering from ulcerative colitis. For almost a year, Amanda was able to live a life almost free from pain and steroids, but that was short lived. She developed a hernia from that surgery and had surgery again to repair the hernia on 7/3/2018. Since that date, she has been unable to go home and in fact, has been in ICU for the past 15 days. She is in the fight of her life and is unable to work. Her husband has not left her side and will remain until the day she is able to leave ICU and start on her next journey of recovery. We expect this will be a long road ahead, and one that will require a village to help them through.
With that being said, this page has been started to help with expenses. We do not have answers to when that time will come that life will get back to normal, and for those of us that know David and Amanda, we know that God is in charge and will see them through. In the meantime, I wanted to start this page for those people that reach out daily to ask how they can help. Prayer is the #1 way you can help, but fast in line is helping so that they are able to help with expenses!
I set this account up under David's name so that he is able to manage it how he see's fit during this time.
