Hey everyone, it's Kimberly, I am writing this GoFundMe on behalf of J. I was on the phone with her in April when this all started, and it was terrifying. Spending 2.5 weeks with her and seeing her obstacles and setbacks is heartbreaking. This treatment could really help! We are willing to share the name of the facility in time, but we just want to protect her privacy and safety during this time. 

 

She would love to document it all for you so you guys can see her progress! Right now, the doctor stated she is running on about 30%, with this treatment, he stated after this treatment she could be operating at about 65-75,% and then they will send her home with an action plan, exercises, and everything she will need to keep progressing further. 

 

Hi, my name is J., and while it’s incredibly difficult to ask for help like this, I’m in a place where I can’t do this alone. 

 

In 2023, I suffered a brain injury that deeply affected my nervous system, balance, energy, and overall neurological function. It was a long, difficult road to regain some stability, but I did the work. I fought to heal. I had started to reclaim pieces of my life. 

 

Then, in February of this year, that progress was suddenly and severely reversed. Due to a medical error—a medication I should never have been given, as well as doctor neglect —I experienced a relapse that retraumatized the original brain injury and destabilized my entire nervous system. What followed were multiple hospital stays, a steep decline in my ability to function, and a complete halt to my ability to work or care for myself. 

 

Now, I’m back in survival mode. I rely on my child to drive me to appointments. I cannot safely drive, and more often than not, I’m in a wheelchair just to get through the day. Motion, noise, heat, and even small amounts of stress now trigger severe episodes, ranging from fainting, tremors, and intense fatigue to dizziness, processing thoughts, and an inability to regulate my nervous system. I’ve also developed anemia that requires iron infusions, and I’m working closely with what little support I can find. But the care available locally is not enough. 

 

I’ve been doing everything I can to get back on my feet, but my options are extremely limited. There is a medical center in Phoenix—over 2.5 hours away—that offers diagnostics and treatment I desperately need. From nervous system rehabilitation to therapies that could reduce inflammation and restore function, there are multiple resources in that area that offer real hope. But traveling back and forth isn’t realistic. The motion alone sends my body into spirals, and I’m simply not well enough to make repeated trips. I’d need to stay in the area short-term for treatments and rest between appointments. Unfortunately, insurance doesn’t cover these therapies, and after being unable to work since March, I cannot cover the cost myself.

Three-week intensive treatment, 3-4 times a day M-Th- $12,000 



AirBnB (treatment is over 2.5 hours away from home) $3,250-4,500 



and the rest covers food, gas, and a dog sitter. 

 

That’s why I’m asking for help—to get to Phoenix, to stay nearby during the critical treatment window, and to access therapies that could finally turn things around. This isn’t just about feeling better—it’s about getting my life back. Being able to walk again without assistance. Work again. Create again. Show up for the people I love—and the community I care about.
