We are aiming to raise $100,000 in order to offer 8 FREE individual therapy sessions for 100 people in the BIPOC community. We’ve chosen this group because approximately 1 in 5 adults in the US experiences mental illness every year, yet racial/ethnic minority groups are less likely to receive mental health care. Why 8 sessions? In order to receive adequate time and support, we have given space for recipients to be able to deep dive and set goals with their therapist.
When we take into account the current pandemic, mental health care becomes even more necessary. According to Hartford Healthcare, more than a third of Americans relate to feelings of depression and anxiety as the COVID-19 cases spike. It affects people ages 18 to 29 more, with the second most-affected age group being people 30 to 39.
Our communities are in need of healing now more than ever. With therapy sessions costing an average of $80 – $200 per session, we are hoping to alleviate that financial burden.
We hope you can join us in donating to this very important initiative we are excited to kick-off. No matter how much you are able to give, we are grateful to have you working to bring this much-needed resource into the lives of many.
