HyperbaricOxygen for Elijah's brain

Donation protected
My brother Elijah is kind and gentle, strong, humble, goofy as can be :) He is twenty-six. His adventures are not over.

Three years ago, Elijah experienced a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) while stationed in Alaska - about to return to training for the Special Forces. He received an elbow blow to the skull while playing for an army Rugby team.

Nothing has been the same since.

Persistent daily issues for him include extreme sensitivity to light and sound, muscle atrophy, acute dizziness, loss of appetite, insomnia, chronic exhaustion, difficulty standing up and walking. He crawls up the stairs, and has become skilled in maneuvering on his hands; his legs don't always obey the commands of his brain. On "bad days" he crawls, because walking is not an option on bad days. Despite it all, he has an incredible attitude, and smiles more than anyone else I know - though his eyes give away the turmoil.

You may be able to imagine how vividly these factors might alter his life - then again, you may not. Even living with him, I cannot imagine just how different my life would be if I experienced what he does on a daily basis.

Elijah is not on medication. The VA prescribed him pills for some of the symptoms. They made him feel numb and absent, so he stopped taking them because he would rather the pain and discomfort of the symptoms than to feel numb and absent. So I've been researching alternative therapies.

Through research and talking to people with TBI experience, at the One Hit Away Foundation http://www.onehitaway.org/ ,
I have learned about an amazing therapy called Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy or HBOT for short. It sounds super high tech even though the understanding of its use has been around since the 1600s! Here is a link to tell you more about it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78PXByMI5J8&feature=player_embedded
There are no medications or other therapies that I know of that have the ability to restore brain tissue. HBOT does! I am ecstatic at the very real possibility of Elijah's quality of life improving!
I have abounding hope that the use of the HBOT chamber will bring life-giving results for my brother, as well as the hope of healing to others. I want to supply him with an in-home HBOT chamber by October. His overall wellbeing is not currently improving, but with your support and generous hearts, I believe that Elijah can and will have a fruitful and bountiful quality of life!

Thank you so much for caring for this special man. If you've ever met Elijah, or heard about him, you know what I'm talking about. He is a really special person, with a powerful destiny - that you are personally pouring into. Become a part of Elijah's journey. Let him become part of yours.

Thank you so much for sowing seeds of life into my brother <3
