Heal Bobbi DiGirolamo, Advanced PTSD treatment  If you have met Bobbi DiGirolamo or Ms. D as she was known by her students at Lake Ridge High School you know that she is pure of heart, bringing light, joy, and love to everyone she encounters.  Her many years in the school district doing IEP and special needs testing brought her in contact with so many special and wonderful kids and she had great pride in helping them through the tough times of middle and high school. Now retired, Bobbi is a wife and mother of two adult sons.  Currently the whole family has come together in this time of crisis. The family has created this campaign on behalf of Bobbi as friends and family are looking for a way they can help and contribute to her recovery. What happened: Sadly, Bobbi has run into several medical conditions that have resulted in her needing more robust medical treatment than her traditional health insurance is able to provide or cover. Suffering from a hypothyroid condition for many years, her body is unable to get enough thyroid hormone, severely slowing her body's processes. As these functions diminished, she was becoming extremely fatigued, forgetful, anxious, and depressed. Her most challenging issue is mental confusion and fogginess. These issues, compounded with a diagnosis of PTSD from many abuses suffered throughout her childhood and teenage years, have finally come to a head and she is now in need of 24/7 advanced care for a period of time. Treatment Needed: Research was done to find the best place to help support her recovery. Unfortunately, her health care coverage does not cover this advanced facility, and the family made an emergency decision to place the expense on credit until a more stable funding method can be found. She was accepted to a wonderful facility on the Oregon coast dedicated to helping women with PTSD.  She is making great progress in just the first week of her treatment and finds the facility safe and we are all hopeful. In the second phase of her treatment they will help Bobbi work through the PTSD with advanced treatments like EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) that is an implementation of psychoanalysis and therapy as well as DBT (Dialectical behavioral therapy) a type of cognitive behavioral therapy.  These treatments are the most critical to her recovery. As the costs for this kind of care are very expensive, even after being granted a scholarship that has helped reduce the cost, we are still exploring all options to come up with the needed funds to ensure that this medical help does not lead to financial hardship moving forward. All funds donated will go directly to supporting Bobbi's recovery program and the supporting costs for her on going care.
