Heal Justin’s Hip

Donation protected

Hello everyone! My name is Alyssa and I have created this for my fiancé Justin who has struggled with his injured left hip for a few years now. He did not want me to make this because he doesn’t want a pity party or anything. It’s a long story and I’m willing to do what it takes to help Justin get his hip fixed.

It all started a few years ago when Justin, a 22-year-old athletic male, landed on his hip the wrong way while playing basketball and the next day he couldn’t walk right. Ever since that moment, he has had a limp. Justin has suffered daily from weakness, pain, and instability. Justin’s left thigh is significantly smaller than his right and the doctors noticed this. We went to multiple orthopedic doctors in Knoxville, a couple of neurologists including Vanderbilt, and rheumatologists. The conclusion from the appointments collectively revealed to us that Justin has mild arthritis, newly diagnosed Becker’s Muscular Dystrophy, tore his labrum, and will eventually need a hip replacement. In the mean time, Justin has been working aimlessly by going to physical therapy every single week to try to gain the strength back in his leg. He gives it his all, but it simply is not enough. Justin continues to have trouble walking up the stairs and falls randomly. Justin wishes he could run again and play basketball which is his life.

His physical therapist has recommended PRP to fix his hip so we looked into it. PRP stands for platelet rich plasma therapy that utilizes the body’s blood to reboot the immune system and stimulate healing to the affected areas. The sports medicine doctor explained that he would do injections of PRP to the injured areas and believes he can get him back to normal within 12 months of treatment. Justin has said over and over, “Alyssa, I’d love to walk the down the aisle for you without any trouble.” But so far it cannot be done.

PRP therapy is NOT covered by insurance. Therefore, each treatment is very expensive. We are seeking for help to cover the costs so he willbe able to walk down the aisle without a limp and get back to a more normal athletic outdoor lifestyle that he longs for.
