Healing for John Goemaat

Donation protected
John Goemaat walked into his Doctors office at the beginning of this year, expecting to get the results of his eye examination and anticipated a prescription for antibiotics and walked away with a life altering-devastating announcement from his physician. He was told he has a very rare cancer in his eye, namely, Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma and life expectancy is extremely low.  There have been 20 cases in 20 years and the outcome is very devastating as it is a very aggressive form of cancer. He and his wife Jennifer, who was pregnant with their second child at the time, were in shock and disbelief. They’re daughter Emma at the time, was 6 months old . His Ophthalmologist quickly with a team of Physicians, put into play a plan that would entail extremely aggressive action. The team of Doctors assigned to this case said the tumor was too large to remove but if it responded to chemotherapy, they may have a chance of removing it.

The doctors were confident he could handle the treatments because the rest of his body is strong, his other organs  would be able to handle the aggressive onset of treatment.  He and Jennifer would have to drive to Los Angeles, over the next 3 months, where John would stay in the hospital during the week and receive the chemicals that may offer him a chance to see his young children grow up. Sadly the last round of chemotherapy treatment was cut short due to a series of strokes followed by seizures which nearly killed him and left him too weak to fight. He would require hospital stays off and on for months- as a result of this aggressive treatment. While the treatment did shrink the tumor some, the doctors decided they would not operate as they could not control the seizures…the outcome would be very bleak.

John has worked very hard to get back to work to support his family as they have just one income right now. He has been working again in spite of the pain he endures, and he is strengthening his body to make sure he’s in a position to handle everything. Recently, due to pain associated with this disease, his Physician ordered an MRI to check for any changes. They have learned the tumor has grown and ordered Radiation and Chemotherapy to start again. John and Jennifer have prayed diligently about this and he has decided not to pursue Radiation and Chemotherapy again. The last time left John too weak to fight back at times. John and Jennifer are trying very hard to stay positive throughout this journey and at times it is very difficult, they are taking it one day at a time.

On a positive note, they received information on an alternative treatment. This form of treatment is holistic in its approach, -unfortunately it is not supported by the insurance companies,-the supplements and food required would have a huge out of pocket expense --but its been very successful. This natural treatment approach requires diligence and organization on their part- it is not an easy process –you have to adhere to a very strict diet regimen but many have had success with it. Many means one more may also have success. We are believing that John and Jennifer will be able to watch their children grow up together. Please be charitable in your giving, we are just asking for a fighting chance.  We thank God for this and for you.
