Hey! My name is Jade, and I’m the founder of Mane Hook-Up, a platform dedicated to helping people find and book afro hair stylists they can trust.

What's Happening?

In April, we’re hosting a special community event called Crowned with Care, in London. An event created to offer free hair care and barbering services to Black and Mixed-race children and teenagers (ages 5–18) in the care system.

Each child or teenager will get:

A free hair appointment
Access to a live Q&A session with our hair education partners
A goodie bag with 2x months' supply of hair products
Access to a video library with hair care advice

This is the second event in a series that Mane Hook-Up has done in collaboration with Doops. You may have seen their fundraiser earlier this year for the first event in Leicester.

Why This Matters

Many children in care, especially those with afro or curly-textured hair, struggle to get access to the right hair stylists, products and education. The result? Their confidence, identity and well-being take a hit, leaving many children feeling disconnected.

Crowned with Care will bring together skilled hairstylists, barbers, and volunteers to create a day of love, care, and community. Plus, they will walk away with the products and education they need to look after their hair long after the event has ended.

How You Can Help

To make this day possible, we need to raise £12,170 to cover the costs of:

Paying 15 hairstylists and barbers for their time.
Providing hair care boxes for each child.
Renting and decorating a venue that's in central London (to make it accessible to as many children as possible).
Refreshments and essential supplies for volunteers.
Public liability insurance and DBS checks to ensure a safe environment.

Every donation, big or small, will directly contribute to helping these children feel valued and celebrated.
