Dear Friends and Family,
I am starting this fundraiser to address the expenses that are accruing after eight and a half months of ill health in search of a diagnosis. Last winter I was traveling on the west coast, and upon returning to the east coast for the holidays came down with a sudden, severe headache that has been with me ever since. Every minute of every day and night, I have been in pain (7 out of 10 on a pain scale), with blurry vision and intense brain fog. A headache is a small thing when it lasts a few hours or a day, but after living with a constant, mysterious headache for this long, I can say that it is life-changing. Never have I experienced something so mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually and financially exhausting.
I quickly blew through my savings, which were more than you'd expect for a farmer, trying to get a diagnosis. But after more than eight and a half months full of urgent care, MRIs and blood tests, a trip to the ER, Lyme disease tests, eye exams, new glasses, massage therapy, chiropracty, acupuncture, trigger point injections, nutritional supplements, dietary regimens, neurology appointments, physical therapy, and more blood tests, it is still unclear what is causing my headache. The most recent blood work shows that my innate immune system is more than commonly active, indicating that I am fighting something off. This calls for another round of tests, including further tick-borne illness testing, screening my home for the presence of harmful mold, and testing for MARCoNS, an upper nasal passage staph infection. My health being what it is, I have had to work a much reduced schedule which earns me little more beyond the cost of rent, let alone utilities and gas, car maintenance and insurance, and of course a steady stream of medical bills. My dear parents have thus far been able to pick up my medical expenses, but the time has come to ask for more help!
This next round of tests will cost $1,000 so that is my current goal. Anything you can give will really help, and be so deeply appreciated.
