HEA HIAS Sponsorship Circle

*Update*
It is hard to believe that our Afghan Family flew on February 15th and have been here for just over ONE month.
It has been a busy time for our circle as we support their resettlement process. The family consists of a Mother and Father and 7 children, 2 of their daughters remain in Afghanistan and we hope that eventually, the whole family will be reunited. 

Here are some of our accomplishments: 
-Secured an apartment in Northglenn for the family, close to friends and family
-Furnished their apartment and stocked the kitchen with cookware and dishware
-Took the family food shopping and stocked their kitchen
-Secured a State of Colorado rental grant that covers 6 months of their rent
-Applied for State Benefits and coordinated visits to local health care providers
-Mother and Father are enrolled in ESL classes through Emily Griffith 
-The children are enrolled and attending school!  
-We are currently searching for an Immigration Attorney to assist with their asylum case

This experience has been both extremely intense and extremely rewarding at the same time!

Help HEA welcome and support an Afghan refugee family in Denver. 47,000 Afghans in need of protection live on military bases waiting for communities across the country to receive them. We are excited to help a family of newcomers acclimate to Denver.

 

Our community is creating a sponsor circle with the guidance of HIAS . We have an urgent need to raise money to sponsor and support an Afghan family as they transition to life in Denver.

 

Sponsor circles are community-led refugee resettlement initiatives. Our sponsor circle will provide an Afghan family with housing and transportation assistance, employment and education opportunities, and emotional and moral support as they navigate and build relationships within their new community.

 

We need your help to meet our goal of raising $20,000 for this vital project. This is an urgent need, and we need to raise these funds right away. We are well on our way to this goal, but need your help!

 

Any amount will make a difference and help us reach our goal. Once we reach our goal, we will connect with an Afghan family in Denver. The money we raise will pay for their rent, legal fees and home goods. Some funds will go directly to the family as they seek employment and pursue education.

 

Hebrew educational Alliance (HEA) is a 501(c)3 non-profit, and all funds will be distributed to resettlement efforts for an Afghan Refugee Family.
