Help Lauren & Elle beat brain tumor

Donation protected
My girlfriend, Lauren, was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor and has paralysis/numbness/weakness on entire right side of her body. She also has been diagnosed with Lupus this year. Surgery is scheduled for Monday, 11/24/14 at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. The Johns Hopkins tumor specialist thinks the tumor could be one of two types. They will biopsy the tumor during surgery to figure out the type and if she'll need radiation afterward. The treatment after surgery depends on the biospy results. The doctors think that her vomiting, nausea, pain and swelling in her brain due to congestion from the tumor partially blocking the flow of her spinal fluid, will get better once the tumor is removed.

The right side of her body may or may not improve with surgery. The doctors hope to finally get a cerebral spinal fluid sample during surgery (because it is unsafe to do a lumbar puncture while the tumor is in her brain currently) in order to figure out if the tumor has spread through the fluid, if there's an infection or if the lupus is now attacking her brain. Doctors hope the biospy, surgery and spinal fluid will tell us what exactly is going on.

Lauren is a divorced single mom working two jobs and going to school full time to finish her certifications. Her life has stopped abruptly. Without her working there is no money coming in. Her parents are struggling to support her and their three year old granddaughter through this crisis. I have been fortunate enough to take leave from work, but since I am in the Army, I am required to go back to work and possibly be deployed and may not be able to offer the round the clock care I give her and her daughter right now.

After the surgery, if everything goes smoothly and no radiation is required, no complications during surgery, her lupus doesn't flare up, and there are no surprises, Lauren hopes to complete physical therapy in a month so she can get back to being an active mother, employee and student. If things get anymore complicated and/or her right side is not fixed she is in for a long battle and faces losing her independence, financial security and the life she has provided for her baby girl. I am asking for your help  to give Lauren, her baby girl and her parents help with medical expenses, child care expenses, and day to day assistance - especially while I am away.

To give you an idea of the situation, her mother is facing whether or not to retire early just so she can care for Lauren and her daughter but this will put a financial hardship on the whole family. Lauren's dad has been disabled for the past 15 years and cannot physically help. Any assistance with child care, medical expenses, daily living and most of all prayers and support are truly needed. We are not sure what is going to happen over the next few weeks, especially next week, all we can do is pray God helps us and that others can help us, too.

We thank you for your time, prayers, love and support!
