Spearin Family

As many of you know, Chris was diagnosed with a brain tumour after a seizure on 30 Oct 2017. He underwent surgery to remove as much of the tumour as safely possible in early Jan 2018. Fortunately he emerged well from that surgery with little to no deficits. He then did radiation therapy and chemotherapy to attack the residue tumour that could not be safely removed during surgery. Things were progressing well and he was handling the treatments well. As Chris said, Kelley, the kids and Chris were getting thru it, in no small part (actually a huge part) THANKS to the overwhelming love and support of our family and friends.

After his MRI in December 2018 they believed they had beaten it. The scan showed no live tumour. Unfortunately they received the news in early March that the latest MRI is indicating a recurrence in the same area as last time with a new area of concern. So here we go again. He has to undergo another surgery which is essentially the same as last time. This surgery is scheduled for March 25. Follow on treatment will definitely be chemo with other options being explored.

Anyone who who knows Chris and Kelley know that they are always the first ones to jump in and give help or support. Now, it’s our turn. For those of us who have never been through a critical illness, it can be tough to know what to do and how to help. Many of us are also spread around the globe. We don't know all the details for what supports will be needed but we do know that being sick is costly even in our country where we are so fortunate to have universal healthcare. Being able to help reduce the burden associated with the pressures at home so Chris can focus on healing and recovery and so Kelley can focus on taking care of him and their three beautiful children is essential. Being able to purchase healthy ready made meals, housecleaning services, paying for gas and parking for frequent hospital and doctor visits, helping cover childcare, arranging for family to come stay to help and provide support, covering vitamins/ supplements/ other treatments to support Chris’ healing, pursuing alternative treatments and potentially needing additional equipment or house accommodations to support the next stages are all examples of expenses.

Thank you for considering a contribution to lighten the load.
