Girl Power!, Empowerment in Homewood

Donation protected
As a Pittsburgh Schweitzer Fellow, I am implementing a mentorship program for teenage girls in Homewood, a neighborhood of Pittsburgh.  Teenage girls in Homewood are exposed to a variety of risks due to their residence in a low-income community with high rates of violence.  Girl Power!, implemented through Homewood Children's Village, will expose adolescent girls to a variety of healthy habits through weekly sessions led by  local mentors and  engagement in community activities to help these girls make healthy decisions throughout life.

As we all know, these types of experiences rarely come without some cost.  $2,500 will cover the overall budget, with funds being used for transportation to field trips within the community, admission to museums/shows/events, and meals for the girls.  With your help, girls in Homewood can be given the tools to make healthy decisions not only today, but throughout their lives.
