My Elder Parents Struggles

Hello, My name is Ryan O’Neal, I am pictured here with my parents Marian & David. Creating this page is a humbling experience to say the least, as I have always taken pride in being able to handle all obstacles God throws my way on my own. This however, is one time where I cannot be that person, and find myself hoping that the good will of others will assist me, as I try to assist others on my life journey when I can.
My parents are my best friends, and raised me well. I never wanted for anything, and was fortunate to have their love and support in all that I did and continue to do. I’m blessed to have them, as many of us are to have our parents. I recognize I am not alone in this struggle, as we each have our own obstacles.
Just recently, my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer throughout his body, and soon we will find out if we can beat this disease, or if we have to prepare for helping to make his final days comfortable. To even type those words is the single most hardest thing I have ever had to do in my adult life.
I at this time am trying to be the best Son I can. My parents have made some poor financial decisions most likely due to their advanced age. I find them having used a majority of their savings and living above their means, as neither works and both live on Social Security. I have taken over their finances to save what little money they have left. I am taking on all the conversations with the Dr’s, as well as moving them to live with me so that I can save them money, keep them company, and look after both of them daily. To do all of this, although smart in the long term, will cost a great deal which neither they, or I, can afford. Also, I find that my parent’s insurance is not covering all the medical costs we hoped it would.
I’m asking for help. If anyone can donate, even if $1, I would forever be in your gratitude.
