Hayleigh's Journey

On December 23, Hayleigh was hit by a pick up truck and then dragged over a half of a mile. She was rushed to the hospital and and then life flighted, by ambulance, to Danville due to her injuries. Her mother and father are staying by Hayleigh's side every step of the way. Hayleigh has to have so many surgeries due to her Injuries and then extensive amounts of therapy. Hayleigh's injuries consist of broken sinuses, broken nose, fractured left arm, missing left elbow bone completely, right ankle fracture, 40 percent road rush, right eye is closed shut and skin flap from scalp is down to skull bone & possible liver damage. More injuries are being discovered as swelling goes down & as time passes. There are possible thoughts of a transfer to another hospital, farther away due to the severity of her left arm. There is a lot of traveling involved for the family and a lot of expenses are adding up for poor Hayleigh. As of 12/26, Hayleigh's arm injury is so bad she needs to be transferred to Philly. She will be making the trip to CHOP. As of 12/26 Hayleigh and her parents have been in Philadelphia. Hayleigh has had many ups and downs between blood pressure issues, kidney scares, breathing scares. On 12/29 Hayleigh started getting surgeries done. First to her nose, to set it back in place, to clean out the open wounds and to patch up the some wounds on her head. She still has to have her broken ankle and her shattered elbow operated on. After all the extensive surgeries, Hayleigh is going to have tons of rehab and therapy to do.
