Haydil's Family Devastated by María

Donation protected
A few weeks ago, Hurricane Irma grazed Puerto Rico leaving most of the island without electricity or water. As the island was already hurt, the most unexpected event occurred as Hurricane María (category 4) made a direct hit to Puerto Rico leaving widespread devastation like the island has never seen before.

With 100% of the island without electricity or water, and gasoline running out/lines lasting hours, Puerto Rico is absolutely in a state of emergency.

Haydil's (my wife) parents have a small restaurant in a rural area in the center of the island that sells local food to the cars passing by, this is called a "chinchorro". This small restaurant is the only source of income for Haydil's mother, father, brother, sister-in-law, 2 nephews Brian and Yediel, and her older sister works there part time. With communication to and from Adjuntas down, yesterday we drove 2 hours with her parents to see the status of their home/business and this is what we found

Everything is totally destroyed. The roof absolutely shredded apart, the walls caved in, chairs and tables in the river, oven and stoves damaged from the large amount water, electric wiring torn out, fridges damaged, and shows absolutely no resemblance of a restaurant anymore. Unfortunately, there is no insurance as the monthly payments are not feasible based on the monthly sales.

Even worse, the home of Haydil's brother, sister-in-law and 2 nephews was completely destroyed losing their roof and the majority of their clothes, school supplies, and personal items. Without a home or a source of income, this family really needs your help.

This Go Fund Me will go to rebuilding the restaurant to operational and will support Haydil's family members during this time of rebuilding.

The family thanks you in advance for your help and generosity.

UPDATE: As I mentioned above, Haydil's parents stayed with us in San Juan during Hurricane Maria and days after we drove 2 hours to their hometown. When we returned to San Juan we created this Go Fund Me but they had no idea (as all communications on island are down).

Two days later we returned to Adjuntas to see how they were and showed them the $6,000 that was raised, this was there reaction:

Side note, since this Go fund Me is receiving so much traction and is even receiving donations from people outside of our circle of friends and family, they wrote me that we need to mention how the funds will be withdrawn, which will be from a stateside bank account (as the withdrawal must be from stateside bank account).
