Hayden's Cancer Fight

Donation protected
Hayden Mohan, a 20-year-old  Apprentice at a Dealership in Prestons NSW. He has been working with us since July 2018 and is currently in his 4th year of his apprenticeship.

In October last year he noticed a slight pain in his leg/knee which was associated with a lump that had formed. He continued to work on his leg thinking it was just a tendon problem from a previous injury. It had been sore for quite some time until he finally went and got it checked out by a doctor.
After some test Hayden was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma.
Osteosarcoma is a type if bone cancer that is usually found in males younger than 25 years old. If not
treated immediately it can become life threatening. By the time Hayden found out about his condition, the cancer had already infected one quarter of his left tibia (approx.150mm).

Hayden started treatment immediately with chemotherapy. Hayden has had to take leave from work since January for an unknown period of time to fight this cancer.

Hayden has already undergone 5 months of intense chemo and has had surgery to remove the cancer infected bone and significant areas of the long bones and muscles connected to the knee. A splint was placed in until tests were conducted to see if the chemo treatment worked. He currently has a straight splint in place of his knee/bones and is bed bound, unable to put any pressure on his left leg. Test did show some positive news that the chemo killed 50% of the cancer.

While undergoing chemo treatment in hospital Hayden developed an infection which had to be surgically removed. This has caused his treatment plan to change and he cannot have surgery to put the prosthetic knee into his leg until the wound heals. He has just resumed chemotherapy that will go for a minimum period of 6 months.

Hayden has a long road ahead of him, including learning how to walk again, to free him from cancer and be healthy physically and mentally.

As Hayden had no choice but to leave work to concentrate on fighting for his life, he is undergoing financial hardship.

Please help us help him to ease the financial hardship during this time!
