Hawley's Surgery

Our best and biggest dog, Hawley, is about to go back for an important surgery. She potentially has an intestinal blockage, and has been sick for a few weeks. The last few days, she has been trying to vomit, and has been pretty miserable. For weeks, she's been telling us something is wrong, but we just thought she was being anxious. She's already had about $500 worth of xrays, and now the surgery is gonna cost between $2,000-2,500 (at least that's what is estimated). The vet said that there's a good chance that if she doesn't get the blockage removed, she'll die pretty quick.

I do not have the heart to let this dog die. I do not have the heart to see my wife absolutely distraught--this dog is her baby, and best friend.

I'm taking out a loan to pay for everything, but to our friends and family, if anyone wants to help with this surgery (especially in place of any Christmas gifts), so as to prevent us from getting even further in debt, it would be much appreciated.

I understand that this is not even that much money in the grand scheme of things, but we're in massive debt, and I lose my job in May, unless I get into a PhD program with funding. Any and all money I've saved up has been to cover our rent over the summer while I'm not paid, so this is hard for us.

Do not feel obligated. Donate to human charities if you think it better instead. I would if I was you; I do not even know how to justify saving a dog for such a cost. But I do not have the heart to let our dog die. Any money over the cost of the surgery will be given to HUMAN charities.
