Our Unexpected Adoption

"We went from 3 years to possibly 90 days with more expense and more lawyers than we ever dreamed of!"

Here is the Story: We always wanted to adopt and were getting started to adopt through foster care in our state. We found out that currently there are only 40 adoption-ready children in the state and over 40 families waiting in our county alone. For a family like us (under 30) they expected a 3 year wait. We agreed to prayerfully and patiently wait.

Then out of the blue we have the opportunity to adopt a little girl through a private adoption! She is currently 8 weeks old. We went from 3 years to possibly 90 days with more expense and more lawyers than we ever dreamed of! We're working with lawyers and an agency to get all our paperwork done. It is not a 100% sure deal, but we're confident from the information we've gotten from lawyers and social workers that the state will be favorable if we get everything done by court mid-September.


We had saved enough for the homestudy (a different one than we had started). We've also been given enough to cover our lawyer.


We're raising money to cover all the lawyers and let us adopt this little girl!

Lawyer in our State: Paid
Homestudy: Paid
Our Lawyer in other State: 2000
Birthmom's Lawyer in other State: 2000
Additional Lawyer (for Father, Mom in our state, etc): 1000
Misc. Court Fees: 1000


Of course we're not entirely sure but this is the best estimate that we have. God has done so much in the process of the last two weeks and we're trusting that this adoption is a little part of a bigger reconciliation story. We'd be so thankful for your help!
