<div>Update 4/8/25: Jade has reached remission and is mrd (minimal residual disease) negative. While trying to restart the full dose of blincyto, Jade experienced brain toxicity. She was confused, couldn't talk, and even forgot a portion of time. The hospital stay went from 3 days to 12 before she was discharged. Now on her second blina cycle, she will meet with the bone marrow transplant team to discuss the next month.

<div>Update 3/11/25: Jade has just finished her first round of 24/7 Blinatumomab, and has been disconnected from her pump. In two weeks she will be reconnected for another 28 days. In that time she will have a bone marrow aspiration and continue to receive weekly LPs with methotrexate.

<div>Update 2/18/25 : Jade was re-admitted to the Pavilion oncology unit on February 10th. Her last labs showed that she is <strong>not</strong> <strong>yet in remission </strong>and will now be on 24 hour Blinatumomab through a pump for about 20 days. She will then get a small break before she goes through another 24/7 Blina treatment for another 28 days. During this time, Jades cognitive functions will begin to decline, and she will need much more physical and mental support, as well as financial support to continue paying off her debts. <div>Due to her current state, she can't work and fend for herself, and I can't support her financially on my own. <strong>All donations will go directly towards keeping her comfortable, safe, and as healthy as possible.</strong> Her greatest financial burden currently is her credit card debt, which totals around $9,000, and her travel expenses from her outpatient visits.

<div>After dealing with months of declining health, she was admitted to the hospital at the beginning of November for extreme pain. She was immediately rushed to the hematology/oncology floor at the University of Penn's Pavilion Hospital. Her labs came back showing <em>cytopenia and an infection</em>. In the early hours of November 5th, her attending gave her the diagnosis of <strong>B-cell acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. </strong>Chemotherapy treatment started immediately that morning. Following the CALGB 10403 course of protocol, she started<strong> steroids, weekly IT (spinal tap injections), and weekly rounds of Vincristine and Daunorubicin. </strong>Spending nearly the <em>whole of November </em>at the Pavilion, she completed course 1 of 5 and was discharged on Thanksgiving.

<div>Without much of a break, she started course 2 on December 5th. For two months, she traveled to Philadelphia 4-5 days a week for <strong>IV and IT chemo, blood products, and bone marrow biopsies</strong>. Over the holidays, she was again in the Pavilion following a <em>serious skin infection</em>. Discharged just in time for the new year, she continued and finished course 2 at the end of January.

<div>She is currently waiting to see if she's in remission. If so, she will start the 3 year portion of the CALGB 10403 protocol. This would include 3 more courses of multi-month treatment to ensure the cancer is fully eradicated.<strong> If she's not in remission, bone marrow transplant and CAR T-cell therapy will be her next path. </strong>

<div>Jade is a 25 year old trans woman from Delaware County Pennsylvania. A Garnet Valley Alum pursuing her degree in mathematics from the University of West Chester of PA, back in 2018-2019, she was diagnosed with an <strong>Aneurysmal Bone Cyst of unknown origin</strong> in her left hip. Following the surgery to remove the neoplasm, she withdrew from classes and ultimately dropped her studies as recovery and school were too much.

<div>Over the following years, she returned to work, but never fully recovered from the surgery. Dealing with chronic pain and nerve flare-ups became the new normal.

<div>She has been paying off her credit debt for years,<em> never making a dent</em>. Now more than ever she needs financial support.<strong> Prescriptions, travel, food, credit, comfort.</strong> Her quality of life has, sadly, been on the decline since her first visit to the ER in November. Purely existing is a struggle for her, as she is in constant pain, deals with neuropathy in the hands and feet, and still deals with pain from her previous hip surgery.
