As the saying goes "It takes a village to raise a child", in the same way "It takes a community to raise a Zoo animal".
Join us in making a difference to your very own community animals right here in your backyard! We're raising money to benefit CHERRY BROOK ZOO OF SAINT JOHN INC., and any donation will help make an impact. We are asking for your financial help to allow us to manage through these winter months in preparation for a new year that we hope will provide us with opportunities to expand both our outreach program and visitor experience.
As we are now in our winter season the overall operational costs are $20,000 - $25,000 a month. This covers feed, heat, lights, minimal staff throughout winter months, vet costs to keep our babies healthy, etc. And due to the weather we are closed for the season!
BUT this doesn't mean we aren't here each and every day to serve these majestic creatures!
Where is my money going and what does this mean to me??
“Have you fed your lion, tiger and snow leopard today?”
· Approximately $1,500.00 to supply the meat to the large cats (lions, tigers, and snow leopard) over the winter low months (4-5 months).
“Keeping our beloved Box-turtle cozy”
· Approximately $2,000.00/month ($10,000.00 during low season) for heat & lights within the Zoo (heat lamps for animals, heating pads in reptile house, heated water buckets, etc.)
“Maintaining a brighter future for you and our fur babies”
· On going repairs and maintenance are approximately $1,800.00/month (9,000.00 during low season).
“Saving lives one day at a time”
· Veterinary visits/bills are approximately $1,000.00/month ($4,000.00 -5,000.00 during low season).
