Have a heart, help a (Chris) Hart

Donation protected
This is a plea for help for someone that deserves a chance to live.

Christopher Hart is a man who spent 25 years in Boston after graduating UConn. Chris was always civic minded volunteering his time and energy with Franciscan Children’s Hospital, victims of Hurricane Katrina and the Special Olympics from high school throughout adulthood.

Chris was diagnosed with Hepatic Cell Carcinoma (Liver Cancer) in 2017. His first Chemo treatment put him into a coma for several days and sparked a cardiac condition. He went into remission and then continued to run some of our beloved favorite Boston venues as General Manager and Director of Operations. The cancer came back fiercely one year later, and he has been on a daily chemo treatment since then in addition to over a dozen different prescriptions a day. To try to seek all potential medical options, treatments and possible drug trials, Chris and his fiancé Erin moved to the DC area in the summer of 2019, as there are so many case specific specialty hospitals and institutions there.

Unfortunately, the cost of the relocation, his insurance and out of pocket cost of treatment has become astronomical. They both have drained all savings to try to keep him alive. Erin got him listed on the transplant list at Georgetown University Hospital back in august, he’s since been put onto the extended criteria list as he is dying at a rapid speed and requires her to be his unpaid caregiver, unable to work as he needs 24 hour care for everything from remembering his medication doses to meals and transportation as he can no longer drive and had to sell his car back in March.

Cancer runs in his family and sadly claimed the life of his younger sister Kim 6 years ago to brain cancer. Anyone who could have any empathy for his parents who do not want to bury both of their children, but rather watch their son get healthier and have the chance to live a happy, productive life resuming a roll back as a contributing member of society which they never got the opportunity to do with his sister may understand the sense of urgency and compassion of this plea.

This is a man who wants the chance to live and pay it forward and will if given the ability to afford the opportunity to receive the gift of a new liver and will take nothing for granted.
