Two friends started a non-profit organization with the simple desire of making a difference in someone's life by sharing their time, knowledge, skills and resources in healthcare to help others.
Today, many volunteers have joined a great cause of providing free medical care to the less fortunate.
HOUSTON ALLIANCE OF VOLUNTEERS IN MEDICINE (HAVMed) is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization whose primary purpose is to help with the medical needs of low income families in impoverished communities in the Philippines, by conducting medically oriented missions.
Volunteers in these short term medical mission trips give free medical care and at the same time foster a collaborative relationship with local professional counterparts to share best practice in medicine. All U.S.-based medical mission volunteers travel far, donate their time and pay for their own traveling expenses.
Your donation goes a long way in third world countries like the Philippines. A humble budget of $15,000, we will help hundreds of people get needed surgeries and treatment for their medical problems. $500 can provide free basic dental care for 500 people.
HAVMed is designated by the United States Internal Revenue Service as tax-exempt as defined by section 501(c)(3) by the Internal Revenue code. Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by the law.
