Janice and Jim Haugen have lived at 13140 Hazel Court in Broomfield, CO for nearly 40 years. They have been active in the community and active members at Lutheran Church of Hope.
My friend Robert and his family have recently found out that their home is uninhabitable due to chemical contamination. Their home of 40 years now needs to be completely gutted, decontaminated and replaced. Everything! Walls, furnace, ducting, carpet, etc. All personal belongings, furniture, and electronics that cannot be cleaned through the necessary decontamination process must be disposed of. Most everything is going to be replaced costing in total over $150,000.
Robert's 86yr old mother takes care of his 87yr old father with dementia. Robert and his wife Char recently moved in to Robert's parents house to help mom and dad. Shortly after moving in Char became sick. After a few Dr. appointments and investigation they discovered a chemical contamination throughout the house was the cause.
This has turned their life upside down taking a huge emotional and financial toll on everyone. Since being displaced from their home Robert's dad became ill and needed surgery. He is now in a rehabilitation center. The entire remediation process will take 1 month with completion date slated for December 1st. The home will be a shell. Then a re-assesment before the city and county will release the home. It will take a minimum of 4 more months keeping them from their home through the holidays and into 2018.
I know times can be tough for everyone and with holidays around the corner we don't expect to raise the whole amount but any donations can help. No donation is to small. Thank you for your help!
