This month , during the first week of August Kady and Wes Shell had to take their 6 yr old daughter Hattie to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital here in Memphis Tn. She had been sick with Bacterial Pneumonia and couldn’t get past the fevers and other complications that came along with Bacteria pneumonia .After roughly a week in the hospital and being transferred to the PICU UNIT. Hattie was put on a ventilator while many additional tests were being ran to find out what was the root cause of the infection that was making her so sick. After a few days of testing , she was diagnosed with


MIS-C ( below is the best description from her dad ) ….


“Now they know what they are treating.


She has the covid antibodies.


MIS-C is not widely known but happens in children who have had covid but were asymptomatic, then, months later, some unrelated virus brings it to life and it starts attacking organs, most ppl it attacks heart and kidneys, this is the first they've seen the lungs. Treatments are starting immediately and we should know if it's working within 48 hours. They are also starting full body scans to confirm no other organs are damaged.”


After a few days of treatment Hattie became stronger and was taken off the ventilator. She was moved to a regular room for additional therapy and continued treatment to gain her strength back while showing improvement. But earlier this week one of her little lungs showed partially collapsed and she was put back in PICU for additional oxygen and antibiotics. Today her other lung showed partially collapsed with fluid in her lungs. The Doctors had to put her back on a ventilator to maintain her oxygen levels . They also began more antibiotics to fight the fever and infection that has returned. Kady and Wes have spent almost every night at the hospital with Hattie only to come home briefly to spend time with Hatties sister Hazel. With both parents being away from home and work for what has been almost a month, I know bills and the daily costs of living never stop. For anyone who knows this family and this little Princess knows just how much they are loved by soo many !! Im hoping that this Gofundme can help ease some of the financial stresses that are sure to come. But most of all Hattie needs our PRAYERS! Prayers to heal her little body and renew her strength to fight and return home to her family and friends! I’ll do my best with permission to update her healing status on here.
